“Having worked with H and D Homes Ltd previously in Stafford we are pleased to be awarded the contract for the second project” stated Shaun Holt Operations Director for SPL.

SPL pride themselves on their reputation for quality and customer service so repeat contracts are an important part of their business.

SPL were awarded the contract to manufacture a green oak Sunroom for a Private Client in the Midlands.

SPL provided the complete package from design, structural calculations and manufacture. The client originally had a very simple hardwood conservatory and wanted to upgrade to a more substantial structure.

The oak was protected with Osmo Oil to provide a level of ultra-violet protection from the sun.

SPL also provided the high performance oak windows and bi-folding doors to complete the project.

Performance was also a key factor as the rear elevation is very exposed.

Although SPL completed their works over 12 months ago the completion images were worth waiting for.

An entire “Eco-House” will be built in the new purpose built showroom at Norman Piette’s in Guernsey.

SPL were chosen due to their experience in supplying and installing products into Guernsey over the past ten years.

“This is a really exciting opportunity to work with Norman Piette’s, this will  strengthen both their supply chain and increase our market share of products into the Channel Islands and we look forward to the future” said Operations Director Shaun Holt.

SPL worked direct with the client and contractor to supply and install large aluminium bi-folding and french door sets from Germany, they also supplied and installed the timber and aluminium atrium glazed roof and the new hardwood windows and doors.

All products were chosen for their performance capabilities due to the location and extreme weather conditions.

SPL have also secured the contract to supply and install a bespoke oak and glass floating staircase. The staircase will have a main core of steelwork which will be completely hidden giving the effect that the treads are floating.

All the products were used to offer both a traditional and modern look through-out the scheme contrasting the old with the new.

SPL were required to produce a set of templates, full working drawings and manufacturing information for the factory following the completion of the survey for staircase. The staircase was to connect the basement with the 3rd floor where the swimming pool was located.

The staircase sub-straight was a metal core upon which “Teak” treads, risers and landings were fitted. The staircase was completed with a site applied oil finish, to protect the Teak from any water staining.

Theonlinewindowshop enables the customer to estimate, design and purchase the windows and doors required for each project at the click of the mouse. The system produces full Autocad drawings and specification for all items required.

“We have simplified our window range to reduce the costs, but have not reduced any of the performance or specification that we are known for within this sector” said Shaun Holt the Operations Director.

All products can now be offered at a reduced cost to builders and contractors enabling timber windows and doors once again to compete with the UPVC window suppliers.

The level of complexity within this scheme required a highly experienced team to pull this together, from an architect, structural engineer and computer aided machining technology.

SPL were involved from the start and managed the complete team taking experience from each sector and delivering the finished project on time and within budget.

Each glazed panel or door set was over three metres high and over one metre wide, all products were supplied factory finished and glazed. The doors were fitted with Swiss made 3D adjustable hinges and mutli-point locking systems.

The segmental roof was machined and fully assembled in our factory before being delivered to site in component form.

The project was completed with aluminium external capping’s and the highest performance “Solar Glass” to the roof.

SPL’s expertise was called upon to match all the precise details of the existing joinery within the property and create new doors and traditional internal shutters to enable the charm and character not to be disrupted. SPL were chosen due to their decades of experience within this sector of the industry.

All details were closely monitored by both the client and the architect and under close scrutiny of the local Conservation officer.

The doors were supplied factory painted and glazed with “slimline” double glazed units and traditional narrow rebated glazing bars were fitted.

Local award winning building contractors SCH Construction from Lichfield in conjunction with the architect chose SPL to compliment the high level of craftsmanship required to complete this local project.

Both the Extension and Sunroom have been designed sympathetically offering all of the charismatic detailing and charm of the original building.

All the products required are being manufactured and are due to be supplied early into the New Year.
